5 TIPS FOR RUNNING A GREAT TUCK SHOP

Good News Clubbers love to spend their “kwacha”/coins at the bi-monthly Tuck Shop. We love to do this so kids will know they are loved and appreciated as much as we want to teach them hard work and consistency pays off. Here are some tips of how we manage to run a Tuck Shop for our front yard GNC.

  1. Be Prepared

The best laid plans of mice of men sometimes go awry. Plan for success. By not preparing a place, inventory and volunteers you have a flawless plan for disaster and disappointment.

Do the shopping the week before taking note of what sold best the last time you held it and buying a bit extra “just in case”. You may need to alter pricing according to costs and average number of coins distributed per child.

  1. Be prayed up and praised up!

The time you spend with the Lord significantly impacts your whole being. It is easy to become frustrated and even angry with the chaos this day can bring. Take the time to be in His presence. After all, you are doing this for His glory!

  1. Take Time to Enjoy the Kids.

Laughter is the best medicine…laughing with kids and enjoying them is the icing on the cake for Tuck Shop Day.

  1. Involve the older kids.

Give the older kids a chance to become involved by letting them help “sell” and maintain order during the tuck shop. Many hands make the work light.

  1. Thank You!

Saying thanks to those who helped out is vital to Tuck Shop Day. Be that leper…remember the 10 who were healed and only 1 returned to say thank you? Manners matter.

Enjoy your Tuck Shop!
